For NorthCentralCardinals.com, and W-O-N-C Sports, I am Kevin Jackman and this is your weekly Cardinal Rundown. Official Podcast can be heard here.

  • Women’s Lacrosse: Starting off the Rundown with a bang, the Cardinal’s Women Lacrosse team blasted away Concordia University on Wednesday, 15 to 5. Mallory Bahr led the way with four goals in the contest. Saturday, however, did not bring the same success as they dropped a nail-biting, offensive slugfest 17 to 18 to Indiana Institute of Technology. With only two games remaining on the schedule, make sure you find your way to the Lax fields before it’s too late.
  • Men’s Tennis: The Men’s Tennis team posted two winning effort this week, beating Illinois Wesleyan and Lake Forest each by a score of 5 to 4. Sam Sweeney kept his grip on the conference’s number one singles spot, and is now joined in the rankings by Matt Boguslowski who finds himself among the best double players this year.
  • Track and Field: Next, we go down to the track for the Wheaton Invite for a look at how the the men’s and women’s track and field squads did this week.
  • Men’s: Competing in a rare Wednesday meet at Wheaton due to cold and the potential snow, the Men’s track and field team was unfazed as they continued their dominance this season by placing first once again. The men crushed the field in the 400 meter as Jon Howard, Jonathan Caron and Dionte Hackler all posted sub 50 second times to finish 1-2 and 3 respectively.
  • Women’s: Also placing first on Wednesday, the women’s team received a strong team outing, separating themselves from the pack once again. This week’s highlights include Melissa Sevino capturing the top time in the 100 meter hurdles and Shiela Walsh who won the 400 meter run with a provisional time.
  • Softball: The Cardinal Softball week started with a Tuesday double header against rival North Park University. Winning not one, but both games, the cards swept North Park by scores of 9-5 and 6-3. Back at it on Thursday against Illinois Wesleyan, the women’s team split the double header, losing the first one, but bounce back with a nice 8-7 win. Finally, Saturday versus Monmouth, they finished of the week with a narrow loss at home 2 to 4.
  • Baseball: Last but not least, the Cardinal Baseball team swept their week’s worth of games against both Milikin and Elmhurst University. All three games were away, but that didn’t stop the Cards from outscoring their opponents by a margin of twenty runs. They return home on Monday to start a five game homestand, four of which against C-C-I-W teams.

Thank you for tuning in to this week’s rundown. For North CentralCardinals.com and W-O-N-C Sports, I am Kevin Jackman, signing out.
